Our Story

In 1996, Harvest Mission Community Church started with a group of eight people in Ann Arbor and a dream: to be a 1st century church in the 21st century. As we looked into the book of Acts, God gave us the vision to be a community of faith that raises bold disciples of Christ who will transform the world. Since then, we’ve started churches in the United States and around the world.

In 2012, the Detroit ministry started with five members from HMCC of Ann Arbor who had a vision to see Detroit transformed with the Gospel message. The ministry grew and multiplied to two LIFE Groups and has seen people from many backgrounds experience Biblical community, discipleship, and new life in Christ.

In 2017, HMCC of Ann Arbor sent Pastor Sam Beck and a church plant team to partner with the Detroit ministry and officially launched HMCC of Detroit on January 7, 2018.

As a church it is our joy to see people from every background experience life transformation as they encounter Jesus and follow him. We are dreamers, longing to see disciples made in every neighborhood of Detroit. We pray and work to see redemption, reconciliation, and restoration in families, communities, and systems as gospel infiltrates our lives. And it is our belief that as we join in God’s work of reaching Detroit, that we will also play a part in reaching the whole world for his name’s sake.
